The process for weather damage.
2. If damage is found, call your insurance agent and make a claim.* 3. An insurance adjuster will inspect your roof and entire property. 4. You will receive a 6-10 page report of the damages. 5. You will be paid with two checks. 6. The first check will be for the grand total of damages less your deductible and depreciation. 7. Deductibles are typically 1% of the home's insured value. 8. The second check will be for "recoverable" depreciation. Example: Total damages $12,000 Deductible $ -2,500 Depreciation $ -2,000 $ 7,500 Therefore, your first check will be $7,500 and your second will be $2,000 (the recoverable depreciation).
*You cannot be penalized and your premiums will not increase as a result of filing claim. Your insurance agent will verify that for you. |
